Anton Zaslavski is a Russian-German musician who produces electro house music and has donned the popular stage name Zedd. He was born on September 2, 1989 in Russia and he started his career in Kaiserslautern, Germany. In 2002, he was part of the German band Dioramic wherein it was signed by Lifeforce Records. After hearing†by electronic duo Justice, Zaslavski showed interest in producing electronic music and started producing it in 2009.
Up to this day, Zedd is best known for his single “Clarity” which featured Foxes in it. This single ranked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was hailed on the top spot in the US Hot Dance Club Songs. During the 56th Grammy Awards, he won an award as Best Dance Recording for that song.
When Zaslavski started his career as Zedd, he began producing a huge variety of originals and remixes. In the Beatport Electro House chart, his first original release “The Anthem” entered in the top 20. Another hit which also made it into the same chart was his remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”.
Part of Zedd’s career also included producing remixes for popular artists such as Skrillex, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and many more.
Zedd also made a remix of Lady Gaga’s famous hit “Born this way” way back in 2011 and it appeared on the release of her special edition album “Spectrum” which also featured Matthew Koma doing vocals. Eva Simons’ song “I Don’t Like You” was also produced by Zedd and it was released on the album Interscope. Zedd also co-wrote and produced Justin Bieber’s song “Beauty and a Beat” for the third album Believe together with Max Martin.
Last October 2013, Zedd made his debut appearance in national TV on The Late Show with David Letterman. During the show, he performed a stripped down version of his famous single “Clarity” which he showcased his piano skills alongside Foxes. In the same year, he performed the same track again on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon but instead of Foxes, he was accompanied by The Roots.
In the next few months, the song “Clarity” continued to gain popularity as it ascended on radio and hit charts. It then made the single to be named as the #2 song in the country. On August 2013, it was a certified platinum single and it opened up the idea of naming Zedd as an MTV “Artist to Watch” VMA nomination during that time. During the 2014 Grammy Awards, the smash hit single earned Zedd an award for “Best Dance Recording”.
After several recognitions and awards, Zedd was undoubtedly named as an artist with a unique sense of style for his composition which surely made an impact amongst the crowd. All of his singles were truly remarkable and his complex music composition has changed the ways of electro house music. He is now considered a powerhouse in the EDM genre which continually builds his momentum and propelled him towards a very promising career.
